Description
Originally commissioned by West High School in Minneapolis, this jazz chart uses an original approach to blues changes, which avoids the usual stock sound associated with many blues charts. Brass and sax sections will find it fun to play, with tenor, alto and piano solos (can be opened up). Though some figures may be a bit difficult on first reading, the ranges are moderate and with work will be a good concert and contest tune for high school and college bands alike. While the sample recording is quite fast, it works well at a more moderate tempo, as well!
